Nevadan’s Guide to Workers’ Comp

Understanding the Nevada workers’ compensation claim process is key to getting the appropriate benefits to cover work injuries, occupational illnesses, and disabilities. Not following proper claim procedures can result in a denied claim.

Filing a Nevada Worker’s Comp Claim

Although filing a workers’ comp claim for on-the-job injuries may seem simple, the filing procedure must follow state guidelines. Missing paperwork, errors and omissions, and late filing often lead to denied benefits.

When a work injury occurs, the injured worker must notify his/her employer of the injury in writing (“C1” form) within 7 days of the accident. Failure to do so may likely result in a denied claim. Next, the injured worker must also see a doctor and file a “C4” form, claim for compensation.

In Nevada, all employers are required to have worker’s compensation insurance.
